"I was recently diagnosed with uterine fibroids. For the past year and a half, I had been experiencing excruciating pain every time I had my menstrual cycle. The pain, frequency, and length of each monthly period doubled. I began bleeding heavily for up to 14 straight days. I also began to develop anemia. At my own insistence, my primary doctor sent me to have a second round of ultrasounds. The results showed I had uterine fibroids. After the removal, I had yet more concerning news as the pathology reports showed signs of pre-cancerous cells in my uterus. I was immediately scheduled for an emergency hysterectomy.
