Living with the pain of Mixed Connective Tissue Disease, every step felt like a journey through discomfort, and medications offered little relief. During this challenging time, my spiritual guide, embodied in the form of my beloved dog Athena, entered my life. Athena, absorbing some of my pain, led me to the transformative world of Reiki for animals. Weekly sessions in a community Reiki circle became the catalyst for healing, not only for Athena but also for me.

My search led me to a Reiki circle that was free to community members and met once a week. Within months of receiving weekly 5-minute session of Reiki, Athena and I were feeling better. Inspired by this journey, I decided to delve deeper into Reiki, paving the way for my spiritual awakening and eventual mastery of this healing art. The support of my Reiki sisters provided the strength to control and develop all my innate gifts. Athena, my guiding light, had shown me the potential of animal communication, a gift I had not utilized until a chance encounter at a dog park.

 

Seated with Athena, a joyful dog approached, expressing gratitude for being understood. The message conveyed a tale of love, remorse, and gratitude, revealing a deeper connection with her owner. We proceeded to have the following conversation.

“I am so happy to meet you, you can understand me, right?” I said “yes”, and she said “Can you please tell my mom, that I am so happy to be living with her again. I was so sad when she left me. Please tell her I am sorry for destroying the sofa pillows. But now I get so scare that she will not come back when she leaves. I do not mean to do it, but I get scared and do not know what to do. Please tell her I love her, and I will try to be good. Let her know that I know that if she had not taken me from the shelter, I would have died the next day. I love her so much.”

 

I looked around and looked at Athena and asked what I should do, if I tell her owner she will think I am crazy, Athena told me to tell the dog’s owner. The dog left, I thought great, now I don’t have to say anything. But five minutes later the dog was back, this time her owner was walking behind her. The dog stopped again in front of me, and put her head on my lap, and said;

“This is my mom, tell her what I told you.”

 

The dog’s owner apologized for her dog, I told her not to worry, and half scared I asked her. “Did you rescue your dog, from a shelter the day before they were going to put her to sleep?” The woman looked at me surprised and said, “how do you know that?” I said,“your dog told me.” Now she looked at me surprised and in disbelieve, but I proceeded to give her the message her dog had given me. When I was done, the woman confirmed that the message was correct, she had moved to Miami six months prior, but had left her dog in Puerto Rico for the first 5 months, and now her dog was destroying the pillows on the sofa. I asked permission from both of them to give the dog healing Reiki energy. By the end of the conversation, the women said, “you have an amazing gift, you should do this for other people.”

 

This pivotal moment marked the beginning of my journey as an animal communicator. With each session, my abilities blossomed, and my gratitude deepened for this incredible gift. As comfort settled in, I extended my reach, utilizing my other gifts and aligning with my life mission, as outlined in "About Unum Reiki & Wellness."
